Meet The Counselors
Sasha Kukulj
Sasha
Kukulj is owner and surf coach of Sol Surf Camp. Sasha has been
surfing the local beaches of San Diego since 1981.
During that time, he coached children at the La Jolla Y.M.C.A.
Surf Camps for over four years. He also has been head judge for
the La Jolla Y.M.C.A. Pro-AM surf series for four years. During
his time at the La Jolla Y.M.C.A, Sasha participated in a number
of activities that pertain to surfing, swimming, water safety,
and being a safe productive camp counselor. Sasha has been teaching
private surf lessons since 1993. He is First Aid + C.P.R. certified and was Life Guard certified for three years. Sasha has enjoyed working in Special Education
for San Diego Unified and Del Mar Union School Districts since 1991. He also worked as a social worker for El Cajon Children's Service Bureau
(C.S.B.)
Dave Martocchio
Dave
Martacchio has been working with children since 1983. He has been
a public school teacher with a Masters Degree in education since
1990 and is currently a kindergarten teacher for
the San Diego City Schools at Grant Elementary School in Mission
Hills. Dave also has a variety of experience working with children
outside of public school teaching. He has been an instructor for
the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America; a Sunday school teacher;
church youth group leader for Junior High, Senior High, and college
aged students; a nine year Y.M.C.A. swim instructor teaching everything
from newborn water acclamation classes, to adult private swim
lessons, to lifeguard certification classes; and he has coached
a Y.M.C.A. swim team for eight years. Dave has been working with summer camps since 1983. Dave has been American Red Cross certified in CPR, First Aid, and Life Guarding since 1983.
